The holiday resort of Murren is car-free. Access for cars is only allowed until Lauterbrunnen, which can be reached by a number of highways from Basel, Geneva or Zurich via Bern to Interlaken (take exit Wilderswil). From Interlaken a well-maintained main road leads to Lauterbrunnen.

Murren can either be reached by the BLM (railway Lauterbrunnen - Murren) from Lauterbrunnen in 20 minutes or by bus and Schilthorn cable car from Stechelberg in 30 minutes.
The Swiss highways are toll roads for all vehicles. The toll is collected by selling motorway stickers, called 'Vignette'. The cost is CHF 40 per year and can be purchased at the customs, petrol stations and post offices.
